Biography

Esra'a Al Shafei is a Bahraini human rights activist and founder of Majal.org, a network of online platforms that amplify under-reported and marginalized voices. In 2014, she received the Human Rights Tulip Prize, awarded by the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and is also the recipient of the "Most Courageous Media" award from Free Press Unlimited. She currently serves on the board of the Wikimedia Foundation. We are not publishing her image for security reasons.
